Blufin

THE GROUP

A penchant for the colour blue and a passion for the sea were the inspiration behind the Blumarine label, a venture launched in 1977 when Anna Molinari and her husband Gianpaolo Tarabini Castellani decided to set up the company Blumarine in Carpi to produce the collections created by the  young designer. The idea was a winner and in 1980 the Blumarine label made its highly successful debut at Modit in Milan.   The first show in 1981 during the Milan fashion events was also a success and 1986 saw the debut at Milano Collezioni with a range exclusively by the designer. The great consensus led to further developments at the company.

In 1987 the Miss Blumarine line of clothing for girls came into being and the licensing experience started up, thanks to the perception of the potential of the Blumarine label. In 1988 Blumarine decided to change direction and became a public limited company under the name of Blufin with Gianpaolo Tarabini as sole director and his son Gianguido in charge of licences. In the 1990s the Blumarine image was transformed and the first monobrand boutique was opened in Via della Spiga in Milan. In 1995 the Blumarine range was joined by the Anna Molinari line, designed up to the 2008 Spring Summer season by the daughter Rossella Tarabini: a conceptual and innovative style expressing the sensual femininity of the collection.

Again in 1995 the Blugirl line was born, designed by Anna Molinari as prêt-à-porter for young women with a romantic inspiration and a witty and fun touch. Blugirl was first shown at Milano Collezioni in 2002 and gained widespread acclaim. After the death of Gianpaolo Tarabini in 2006 the son, Gianguido Tarabini, takes over management of the company as CEO of Blufin S.p.A. The planning of targeted marketing strategies, the farsightedness and careful financial management by Gianpaolo Tarabini and the foresight of assigning the advertising image to major fashion photographers contributed to the success of the Blufin collections.
